At Boomeraang, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform and services.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your phone number. For organization accounts, we also collect the organization name and type.

QR Tag Data

When you register a QR tag, we store the tag identifier and the item description you provide. You control what information is visible to finders through your privacy settings.

Scan Data

When someone scans a QR tag, we collect the approximate location and time of the scan to help you locate your item. We do not collect personal information about the finder unless they voluntarily provide it.

Photos and Images

When you add a photo to a tagged item, your profile, or a found-item report, we collect and store that image so it can be displayed within your account and used to help identify or return items. Photos are selected through your device’s system photo picker or camera.

Payment and Purchase Information

When you buy items in our marketplace or subscribe to Boomeraang Pro, payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We receive purchase and subscription details (such as what you purchased and your subscription status); your full card details are entered directly with Stripe and are not stored on our servers.

Device and Notification Data

To send you push notifications—for example, when one of your tagged items is found—we collect a device push notification token and your device platform (iOS or Android).

• To provide and maintain our lost-and-found service
• To notify you when your tagged items are found
• To allow you to manage your family members and tagged items
• To communicate with you about your account and our services
• To improve and develop new features

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• With finders: Only the information you choose to make visible through your privacy settings
• With your organization: If you’re a member of an organization account, administrators can see tagged items associated with your children
• With service providers: We use trusted third parties to operate the service, including Stripe for payment processing and Expo and Google Firebase for delivering push notifications. They process this data on our behalf.
• Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Boomeraang is designed for use by parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Children’s information is managed entirely by their parent or guardian through the family dashboard.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with encryption at rest.

You have the right to:

• Delete your account and associated data
